The Penwarden Review is an independent website covering sport, business and anything else I find interesting enough to spend far too much time researching.

Most of the site is built around questions that don’t necessarily have straightforward answers. Who are the best young cricketers in England? What might the Formula 1 grid look like in 2030? Where is the Ryder Cup really won? And which players might be representing Europe two years from now?

Rather than simply offering an opinion, I try to use statistics, historical comparisons and a little common sense to reach an answer — while accepting that predictions about sport have a habit of making you look stupid remarkably quickly.

I’m Mark Penwarden. I have spent a decade working as a solicitor in the City before starting The Penwarden Review in 2026.

The site currently focuses particularly on cricket, golf, football, Formula 1 and basketball, alongside occasional pieces on the business of sport and other subjects.
